IMS Policy

 The North British Distillery Company Limited manufactures, matures and delivers high quality Scotch whisky and new make spirit together with key co-products comprising Scottish Distillers Dark Grains, Moist Maize Grains and liquefied carbon dioxide.  The company has developed an integrated management system (IMS) to help maintain compliance, set measurable objectives and drive improvement in a number of business areas.  The IMS supports the following core business objectives: 

·           Safety and Health:  To provide a safe environment for all our employees, contractors and visitors by identifying hazards and  applicable legislation and managing risk systematically to drive continual improvement in our safety performance.   This is enabled by an ongoing safety improvement programme that seeks to make the delivery of a safe and healthy working environment a key business objective through the use of observational techniques, effective communication and the provision of ongoing awareness and training to our employees.  

 

·           Food Safety:  To ensure that our products and co-products are subjected to stringent controls and tested to confirm suitability for sale in the food and feed markets and compliance with legislative and other regulatory requirements.  The principles of Hazard Analysis and Good Operating Practice are applied with the aim of protecting the health of consumers and others who may come into contact with our food and feed materials.

 

·           Quality: To continue to meet and strive to exceed our customers’ requirements and expectations.  We have undertaken a commitment to process driven quality management systems. By achieving BS EN: ISO 9001 and FEMAS we pledge to continually improve the effectiveness of our business and by setting measurable targets we seek to improve the service delivered to our clients in the pursuit of customer service excellence

        Environment:  To improve our business and corporate social responsibility through the assessment and management of significant environmental interactions. By maintaining certification to  BS EN: ISO 14001, we are committed to protecting the environment by preventing pollution, complying with all applicable legal and other requirements and continually improving the environmental performance of the company.     NBD supports the Scotch Whisky Industry Environmental Strategy and participates by working towards achieving the targets set out.

 

Employee Development:  To comply with the principles of the Investors  in People standard the company has in place formal and informal processes to maximize the potential of its employees.
