
General Statement
The North British Distillery Company Ltd recognises that the personal development of its employees is a fundamental requirement in order to achieve its key strategic objectives. Continuous improvement to business performance cannot be achieved without suitable training and development opportunities being made available to all employees.
The company also recognises that all training and development must be well planned, managed and evaluated in order for it to be valid and effective.
Specific Aims
Specific aims of the company’s policy which embrace all employees are :-
• To provide Induction training for new employees to the company.
• To ensure that all employees receive the necessary training & development to enable them to reach a satisfactory level of performance in their jobs.
• To ensure that, as business objectives and job roles change, employees are developed to meet any new challenges.
• To ensure that training reflects current Government policy and initiatives e.g. health, safety & environmental legislation; national standards; equal opportunities.
• To make arrangements for further education, associated with training, for those employees who require it.
• To develop a learning culture by providing Learning Centres where employees can learn new skills in their own time and at their own pace.
Responsibility for Implementation of the Policy
Ultimate responsibility for the training activity of the company rests with the Managing Director, although every manager has a responsibility to ensure that this policy is implemented. The Employee Development Manager has overall responsibility for the co-ordination and management of the training function.
Resources
The Company is committed to ensuring that sufficient resources (e.g. personnel, finance & facilities) are made available to achieve the above objectives.
